About the School

Orchids The International School stands out because of its unique mix of traditional education and innovative, future-ready learning methods. It’s not just any school—it fits into both what we call a Mainstream School and a New-Age School. Here’s what we mean

Firstly,

What is a Mainstream School?

A mainstream school is what most of us think of as a “regular school.” It focuses on teaching kids the basics like math, science, and history. The goal is to give children a well-rounded education and a strong foundation for their future.

Why is Orchids a Mainstream School?

  • Inclusive Environment: Orchids welcomes all kinds of students, including those with special needs, so every child feels supported.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Kids can explore their interests with options like sports, music, arts, and clubs.
  • Extra Support: The school gives students the help and tools they need to succeed in academics and life.
  • Balanced Growth: Orchids focus on both learning and personal development, so kids grow into confident individuals.
  • Safe and Caring Space: It’s a place where kids feel secure and free to be themselves.

Now, the second one.

What is a New-Age School?

A New-Age School focuses on preparing kids for the future using modern methods. It’s all about technology, personalized learning, and teaching skills like teamwork and problem-solving.

Why is Orchids a New-Age School?

  • Tech in Learning: With smart classrooms and lessons in AI and robotics, kids learn to think ahead.
  • Skill Building: The school helps kids develop critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Personalized Lessons: Every child learns differently, so the school tailors lessons to suit their needs.
  • Global Exposure: Kids get to learn about different cultures and languages, preparing them for the world.
  • Creative Learning: Through projects and hands-on activities, kids learn by doing instead of just memorizing.
  • DIY Lab: Whether it’s pottery or 3D printing, kids can get creative and try new things.
  • Learning About Nature: The school’s gardening program teaches kids about the environment and how to care for it.
  • Interactive Classrooms: QR codes in classrooms make learning quick and fun.
  • Affordable Quality: Orchids offers great education at reasonable fees, making it a great choice for parents.

Why this School?

When you’re deciding on a school for your child, it’s important to dig deep and see what makes it special. That’s exactly what we did at Orchids The International School.

After talking to the school authorities and exploring every nook and cranny of the campus, we came away with some key takeaways. These are purely our observations, and they speak volumes about what this school offers.

USP #1: Learning goes way beyond books!

One thing that stood out was how much importance the school gives to extracurricular activities.

The DIY lab is a perfect example—kids can work with materials like wood and create whatever they imagine. There are also dedicated spaces for horticulture, gardening, dance, and music, where students can try out new things and explore their interests.

Horticulture, in particular, offers a hands-on experience with nature. Kids learn how to care for plants, understand the science behind them, and develop a deeper appreciation for the environment—all while getting their hands dirty!

Hobby Classes on Saturdays give children the time to focus on what they love, whether it’s dance, music, or something else entirely.

Then there’s the Saturday Club, which offers exciting options like photography, videography, and theater. Imagine your child writing scripts, shooting videos, and editing them as part of their school day! It’s an incredible way to learn while having fun.

USP #2: Introducing financial literacy—yes, for kids!

This was such a refreshing addition.

The school offers financial literacy classes where kids learn about markets, stocks, profits, and how the economy works—all explained in a way they can understand. It’s impressive to see children gaining this kind of real-world knowledge early on.

Many parents love this feature because it helps kids develop clarity about future career options as they grow.

USP #3: Building confidence through public speaking.

Public speaking is a skill that’s often overlooked, but not here.

Starting from a young age, students participate in debates, speeches, and presentations. It’s incredible to see how this helps them grow into confident individuals who can communicate their ideas clearly—a skill that’s invaluable for life.

USP #4: A weekly class for life lessons.

The school also hosts Soch sessions every week.

These are counseling classes where kids openly discuss important topics like screen time, behavior issues, and understanding good touch vs. bad touch. It’s a safe space where children can talk, learn, and navigate challenges they face in today’s world.

USP #5: Preparing for competitive exams—right in school.

Orchids has a program called the Orchids Career Foundation Program (OCFP), where they hire IITians to train students for competitive exams. What’s great is that this happens during school hours, so there’s no additional pressure

We also noticed that the school’s regular teaching staff is all female, creating a nurturing and secure environment. The only male faculty members are part of the OCFP team, which many parents feel adds an extra layer of trust.

USP #6: Learning languages the smart way.

Their Trilingual approach is another standout feature.

Here, students learn three languages simultaneously, writing each sentence in multiple languages. For example, in Bangalore, they learn English, Hindi, and Kannada, while in Mumbai, it’s English, Hindi, and Marathi.

Two teachers teach the same lesson in different languages, making it easier for kids to understand and adapt. It’s a brilliant way to help kids stay connected to their roots while mastering other languages.

USP #7: Focus on progress, not perfection.

The school’s “no eraser, no scale” policy really caught our attention. It’s such a simple yet powerful idea—letting kids focus on learning and improving without worrying about making everything perfect.
