Orchids The International School stands out because it combines the best of traditional education with innovative, future-focused learning methods. It’s not just your average school—it’s a perfect blend of what we call a Mainstream School and a New-Age School. Here’s why that makes it so special.

What is a Mainstream School?

A mainstream school is what most of us think of as a “regular school.” It focuses on teaching kids the basics like math, science, and history. The goal is to give children a solid education and build a strong foundation for their future.

Why is Orchids a Mainstream School?

  • Welcoming and Inclusive: Orchids embrace every child, including those with special needs, ensuring all students feel supported and valued.

  • Holistic Growth: Orchids focuses on academics and personal development, helping kids become confident and well-rounded individuals.
  • Safe and Caring Space: It’s a place where kids feel safe, accepted, and free to be themselves.

Now, the second one.

What is a New-Age School?

A New-Age School focuses on getting kids ready for the future with modern teaching methods. It uses technology, custom learning approaches, and teaches important skills like teamwork and problem-solving.

Why is Orchids a New-Age School?

  • Tech-Enhanced Learning: Smart classrooms and lessons in AI, robotics, and coding prepare kids for the future.
  • Skill Development: Focus on critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Personalized Learning: Custom lessons cater to each child’s unique learning needs.
  • Global Exposure: Kids learn about different cultures and languages to become global citizens.

  • Affordable Excellence: Quality education at reasonable fees.

Why this School?

When selecting the right school for your child, it’s crucial to look beyond the basics and focus on what makes it truly special. That’s exactly what we did during our visit to Orchids.

After speaking with the school staff and exploring the campus, we gained valuable insights. These are our honest observations, highlighting the unique qualities that make this school stand out.

USP #1: Where Learning Meets Creativity

What really impressed us about Orchids The International School is how much they focus on extracurricular activities. It’s clear that they believe learning goes beyond just textbooks.

Take the DIY lab, for example. Kids get the chance to work with materials like wood to bring their ideas to life. Whether it’s building something from scratch or simply getting creative, this hands-on approach sparks their imagination. There are also special areas for gardening, dance, music, and other activities where children can explore new interests and talents.

Gardening, in particular, is a wonderful way for kids to connect with nature. They get to experience the fun of getting their hands dirty while learning how to care for plants and understand how they grow. It’s an enjoyable way for them to appreciate the environment.

On Saturdays, kids get to focus on hobbies they love, like dance, music, and more. And if your child has an interest in photography, videography, or theater, the Saturday Club offers even more exciting opportunities. Imagine your child writing scripts, filming, and editing videos—all as part of their school activities. It’s a fun way to learn new skills while having a blast!

At Orchids, the focus is not just on academics but also on giving kids the freedom to explore and grow in a variety of ways.

USP #2: A weekly class for life lessons.

The school also hosts Soch sessions every week.

These are counseling classes where kids can openly talk about important topics like screen time, behavior, and understanding good touch vs. bad touch. It’s a safe space for children to learn, share, and discuss the challenges they face in today’s world.

USP #3: A Truly Unique Planetarium Experience

What truly impressed us about Orchids The International School Haralur is their incredible Planetarium experience.
One of the most exciting features at Orchids The International School is their DIY Planetarium experience. Every three months, students get the chance to step into a specially designed dome, where a projector brings the wonders of space to life.
It’s like stepping into another world as they explore the stars, planets, and beyond—all without leaving the school. This hands-on, DIY planetarium setup makes learning about space an unforgettable adventure, sparking curiosity and excitement in the kids as they discover the universe in a fun and interactive way.

USP #4: Stress-Free Exam Prep, Right at School

Orchids offers a special program called the Orchids Career Foundation Program (OCFP), where IITians help students prepare for competitive exams like JEE and NEET. What’s really great is that this extra coaching happens during regular school hours, so students don’t feel overloaded.
We also noticed that most of the teachers at the school are women, creating a caring and safe atmosphere. The only male teachers are part of the OCFP team, which many parents find reassuring and adds extra trust to the program.

USP #5: Learning languages the smart way

Their Trilingual approach is another standout feature.

Here, students learn three languages simultaneously, writing each sentence in multiple languages. For example, in Bangalore, they learn English, Hindi, and Kannada, while in Mumbai, it’s English, Hindi, and Marathi.

Two teachers teach the same lesson in different languages, making it easier for kids to understand and adapt. It’s a brilliant way to help kids stay connected to their roots while mastering other languages.

USP #6: Focus on progress, not perfection

The school’s “no eraser, no scale” policy really caught our attention. It’s such a simple yet powerful idea—letting kids focus on learning and improving without worrying about making everything perfect.

USP #7: Introducing financial literacy—yes, for kids!

This is such a great and refreshing addition to the curriculum.
Orchids also offers financial literacy classes, where kids are introduced to concepts like markets, stocks, profits, and how the economy works—all explained in simple, easy-to-understand terms. It’s amazing to see children gaining practical, real-world knowledge from such an early age.
Parents especially love this feature, as it helps their children build a solid foundation for the future and gain clarity on career options as they grow.

USP #8: Building confidence through public speaking

Public speaking is a skill that’s often missed in many schools, but not at Orchids.
From a young age, students are encouraged to take part in debates, speeches, and presentations. They even get the chance to lead TED-style talks, where they research topics, create presentations, and present them to their parents. In return, parents share their career stories, talking about the highs and lows, during “Career Talk” sessions.
This gives kids a chance to practice speaking confidently while learning about their future careers. The student council also plays a big role in public speaking, with students taking on leadership positions, organizing events, and representing their peers. This helps them build strong communication skills that will be valuable in the future.

Our Verdict

At CandidSchools, we help parents find the best school for their kids by considering what’s best for each child. Our experience with Orchids The International School Haralur has been really positive. One of the coolest things about the school is the Planetarium, which made learning fun and exciting for the kids.

What makes Orchids special is that they focus on more than just academics. The school offers lots of fun activities like music, dance, theater, and coding, so kids can explore different skills and interests.

The teachers and leadership are amazing. The principal is friendly and listens to parents, and the teachers are always ready to help. These programs help kids grow in many different ways.

The school is also open about its fees, which are easy to find on the website. Still, we suggest parents think about their child’s needs and family budget before making a decision.

After observing the school for a year, we did notice a few issues, like transportation and some teachers changing frequently. We spoke to the principal, and she explained that it was a management problem, but things have improved since the management change.

This is our experience, but we recommend visiting the school yourself to get a feel for it. Don’t just trust reviews—see it in person before deciding!ng.
