1.  A Basic List of Materials

  • Drawing Paper
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Sharpener
  • Crayons or coloured pencils
  • Stable Drawing Surface

2. Step-by-step guide to bus drawing for kids

Step 1: Draw the bus body

Start by drawing a large rectangle in the middle of your paper. Make sure your lines are straight and even. The rectangle’s width should be greater than its height, resulting in a long and narrow shape. This rectangle will serve as the foundation for your bus drawing.

Step 2: Draw the windows and other details

Now, draw rectangles along the sides of the bus body to represent the windows. Make sure they’re evenly spaced and the same size. Add a slightly larger rectangle to the front to represent the windshield. For the tires, draw two circles beneath the body.

To create the door, draw a larger rectangle near the front, just behind where you drew the windshield. But one corner of the door that is on the tire side should be a bit curved.

Step 3: Draw the Outlines and Structure of the Bus

Now, let’s draw a small rectangle inside the top half of the bus’s front door. This will be the window. Then, draw a curvy shape on the lower front end of the bus. These represent the headlights. Similarly, for the backlights, draw a smaller curvy shape on the bus’s lower back. These headlights will look like a wide smile from the side view.

Now, draw two long rectangles across the bus’s bottom front, just below the headlights. This represents the bumper. And draw two straight horizontal lines just below the windows to give the bus a more realistic look.

Final Touches

Choose a bright yellow colour for the bus’s body. Fill it in neatly. To represent glass, colour all of the windows a light blue. Colour the wheels and bumpers dark grey. The bus’s headlights are coloured red. You can also outline the entire bus in black to make it more visible.

Tips and Tricks to Draw a Bus

  • Begin by outlining the body, windows, and wheels of the bus using simple shapes like rectangles, circles, and ovals. These shapes act as your building blocks for the drawing, making it easier to create the overall structure.
  • Look at pictures of real buses to get an idea of how they look. Notice the shape of the windows, the size of the wheels, and any other details that make buses unique. Drawing inspiration from real-life examples can help make your drawing more realistic.
  • Think about how you want your bus to appear. Is it driving down the road, parked at a bus stop, or turning a corner? Decide on the pose before you start drawing so you can position the various parts of the bus correctly.
  • Begin with basic outlines and shapes for the bus, then gradually add more detail as you go along. You can add features like doors, headlights, and signs once you have the basic structure in place.
  • Sketch lightly with a pencil so you can easily erase any mistakes. Once you’re satisfied with the placement of everything, you can go over your lines with a darker pencil or marker to make them stand out.

Drawing a bus is like embarking on a wonderful journey of creativity! By following these simple steps and letting your imagination run wild, you can create a fantastic bus masterpiece. Start with basic shapes, observe real buses for ideas, and add details little by little. Don’t be afraid to play with colors and textures to make your bus truly special.
