They’re towering above all the other animals and munching on leaves from the tallest trees. Now, picture this: your little one, armed with crayons and paper, ready to bring their own giraffe to life on the page. Sounds adorable, doesn’t it?
We all know how much kids love drawing. It’s like magic for them—transforming a blank sheet into a world of their own creation. You know all the top schools encourage it, with a lot of extracurriculars and art classes to keep them engaged. But sometimes, even with all that encouragement, they need a little extra guidance. That’s where we come in!

2. Fun Stepwise Giraffe Drawing for Kids
Step 1: Outline the Body
Start by drawing two straight lines crossing each other using a scale. Use these lines as a reference to complete the giraffe.
Now draw a horizontal oval shape over the straight line at the top. Then draw an inverted ‘U’ over the oval as shown in the image. This will be the giraffe’s head.
Move down to the other line and draw a circle over it in such a way that the line is passing through the top of the circle. This circle is for your reference to draw the giraffe’s body.
Then draw a curved line connecting the head to the circle. Draw another line extending from the head of the giraffe, make this line a little curved as shown in the image.
Step 2: Give the body more details
Now let’s give the giraffe’s body more details. Start drawing the ears, draw a leaf-like shape on either side of the head. Then draw a horn on top of the head by drawing two smaller curved lines and then joining it with a line on top. Draw a similar horn next to the other ear.
Move down to the body and draw the legs. Draw a small line parallel to the longer line in the front of the body. Close these lines with a curved line at the bottom and then draw another line a little above it as shown in the image. Now draw another line to the right of this in a similar way.
Move to the back of the body and draw the third leg below the circle. Complete the body of the giraffe by joining this leg to the front leg with a curved line starting from the point where the back leg cuts the circle.
Lastly, modify the mouth of the giraffe by drawing a small semi-rectangular shape coming out from the middle of the oval.
These instructions might seem confusing at first, but once you read them and refer to the provided image, everything will become clear. Trust us.
Step 3: Draw the details
et’s add more details to the giraffe by adding two ovals for eyes within the face. Draw two semi circles above the eyes to mark the eyebrows. Then draw a line within each ear as shown in the image.
Now move down to the body and draw the fourth leg right behind the front leg. Draw a slightly curved line extending from underneath the body and close it by drawing a horizontal line which joins the front leg. Then draw another small line right above it to complete the leg.
Then draw a neat outline of the circle from the neck to the back leg, erase the rest of it.
Step 4: Complete the face and body
Add two smaller ovals within the eyes and leave a smaller circle within them to make the eyes twinkle. Draw two small curved lines within the semi-rectangular shape to mark the nose. Then draw a nice wide small by drawing a curved line and closing it with a smaller curved line on either side as shown in the image.
Then draw a tail at the back of the body by drawing a small curved line with a leaf-like shape at the end.
Step 5: Draw the patches
To make your giraffe look more realistic, draw patches all over the body. You can draw rough shapes all over the body and smaller patches on the face as shown in the image.
Final Touches
Add a splash of colour to bring your giraffe to life! You can colour your giraffe using crayons, coloured pencils, or markers. Colour the giraffe with bright bold colours.
