1. Basic List of Materials
- Drawing paper
- Pencil
- Sharpener
- Eraser
- Coloured pencils or Crayons
- Black sketch pen
- Stable base of support/ Drawing board
2. A step-by-step guide for Ship Drawing for kids
Step 1: Draw a small rectangles
Take a drawing sheet and a pencil and draw a rectangle with the pencil.
You have to draw another small rectangle above the rectangle that you drew in the first step.
Now, again make a small rectangle. Remember, the size of the rectangle is reduced in every step.
You can refer to the image if you are having any confusion.
Step 2: Draw a Chimney
Draw a small square. It should be next to the rectangle which you have made in Step 1.
For the chimney, draw a big square above the small rectangle.
Step 3: Draw triangles
Draw two triangles on both sides of the rectangle that you made first.
Refer to the image, if you are having any confusion.
Step 4: Draw windows
Now, it’s time to give some life to the boat. We now make some windows for the ship.
We have to make 6 or 7 small squares on the second rectangle.After that, you have to draw three circles on the first rectangle.

Step 5: Draw circles to show steam
To show steam coming out from the chimney, draw small circles above the last square. You have to draw three circles for this. You can draw a slant line just above the square and then draw the circles to get an idea.
Step 6: Add colours
Now, it’s time to add colours to your ship.
You can add any colour to your ship. You can go red, grey or sky blue colour for the body of the ship. And for a chimney, go for either black or grey.
Final Touches
After completing your colouring, erase any extra lines you have made while drawing.
Add a border to the drawing to make it look neat.
Additionally, what you can do
- You can outline the ship, using a black sketch pen to make your drawing look more attractive.
- You can colour the rest of the sheet blue, representing the ship moving in the ocean.
- You can also make one similar ship.
- You can also show clouds above the ship and water waves around it.
