Lions rest a lot but are also good hunters and survive on eating other animals. 2. Step-by-Step Guide on Easy Lion Drawing for Kids
Step 1: Sketch the Basic Shapes and Outline the Mane
Start by lightly sketching the basic shapes for the lion. Draw a large heart shape for the mane, framing the face. Inside the mane, draw an oval for the face and a half circle above it for the top of the head. Outside the mane, add three egg shapes: one on the left, one at the bottom centre, and one on the right. Finally, draw a large circle above the right egg shape to outline the body.
Step 2: Connect the Circles
The shapes created in the first step represent the lion’s head, muzzle, face, and chest. Connect these shapes with curved lines to form the lion’s neck and body. Inside the heart shape (mane), modify the half circle drawn above the oval by erasing its lower part where it connects to the top of the oval.
Step 3: Make Nose, Hands and Legs
Within the egg-shaped structure inside the heart shape, draw a small half-circle or crescent shape to represent the lion’s nose. Next, erase the inner portions of the circles that form the lion’s body to clearly define the arms and legs. At the edges of the arms and legs, add curved lines to outline the paws, giving them more definition.
Step 4: Draw Eyes, Mouth, Ears and Tail
Draw a thick, curved line extending from the lion’s back to represent its tail, adding tufts of hair at the tip in a leaf-like shape. For the ears, draw two half-circles on the top left and right sides of the lion’s head. Inside the circle representing the lion’s head, sketch the facial features: draw two small circles for the eyes, a curved line for the mouth, and prominent cheekbones. Finally, add a few curved lines to represent the lion’s whiskers.
Step 5: Refine the Mane
Start adding more detail to the mane. Lions have thick, tufty hair around their heads, so add jagged lines and tufts to the outline you drew earlier. Make the mane appear voluminous and flowing.
Step 6: Adding Colour
Finally, colour your drawing of the lion using crayons or watercolour paints. This will make your lion look more beautiful and realistic.
Final Touches
Let’s wrap up your easy lion drawing with some easier final touches.Add some texture to the lion’s fur with short, curved lines and give some shading to create depth, especially around the mane and under the chin. Draw a simple background, like tall grass or a field, to place the lion in its natural habitat. These final touches will bring your lion drawing to life. Great job done!
